What’s a gymnastics coach to do after her star pupil wins a gold medal? Move to Sarasota, of course. Aimee Boorman, who earned international accolades coaching gold medal-winning gymnast Simone Biles, has been appointed as EVO Athletics’ executive director of Women’s Gymnastics and Elite Coordinator. The announcement came hours after a statement was released to People confirming that Boorman was parting ways with Biles to pursued an opportunity in Florida.

“Coaching gymnastics is my passion and my life,” Boorman said in a statement released by EVO. “Having just returned from RIO following an incredibly successful Olympics, I am excited to turn my focus to EVO Athletics and continue to live my passion. My vision for what a gymnastics facility should be is reflected in this at EVO. Not only having world-class equipment and staff, but the dedication to exceeding the needs of all members of the EVO family, athletes, their families coaches and staff while providing a platform for developing young athletes to reach their great potential.” A press conference will be held at EVO Athletics on Tuesday.

Boorman just recently traveled to the Olympic games in Rio with Biles, where the gymnast won the gold  in Women’s individual all-around, team all-around, vault and floor exercise, as well as a bronze for beam.

Kyle Lawton, CEO for EVO Athletics, said Boorman’s world-class coaching experience will be welcomed at the Sarasota gym. “"My wife, Lydia and partner Jason Collins founded EVO Athletics with the intent to bring the best possible experience to both athletes and their families,” Lawton says. “We delivered the world-class facility and are beyond thrilled now to welcome Aimee. Her Olympic experience, passion and personality fit incredibly well with our culture and vision.”
