South Florida is called God’s waiting room for a reason. The real story is how a handful of dedicated Millennials and Boomer collaborators fought to transform a sleepy retirement town into an indie filmmaking capital. That story is in the process of being written. Your heart goes out to: Anyone fighting on the front lines of the culture war. Your most recent social media post? I’d rather not get doxxed. Your nickname: PATRA. Your brand tagline/personal philosophy in 7 words or less:  By any means necessary. Would you rather be an inventor or a leader? Personally, the two go hand in hand. I take great pride being a trendsetter, often through my own creations (Patra Vee Jewelry) as well as by keeping my finger on the pulse of the fashion world to stay well ahead of the curve.   Share your biggest ah-ha moment: The moment that I knew that Sarasota could be the place where my American dream could become a reality. Shortly after moving to Sarasota, I realized that the kind of lifestyle I envisioned and ambitions I dreamed of pursuing were infinitely more accessible and achievable here as opposed to a big city like Los Angeles or New York. Tell us about a time when things felt helpless but you knew you could pull through: As I have faced many obstacles since moving from Bangkok to the United States 10 years ago—the language barrier, cultural differences, distance from family. After moving from the massive metropolis of Los Angeles to the smaller community of Sarasota, I quickly discovered that the effort and energy required to create a life and career here would be substantial. Finding new avenues and different approaches to achieve what I have and want, often outside of my comfort zone, certainly hasn’t been easy. How has Sarasota failed Millennials? I tend to believe that Millennials have failed Sarasota and not the other way around. Many young people that I know here seem to focus much of their energy on what Sarasota does not have or may not be and become complacent. The life that you want and the goals that you set are achievable—it just may not be easy. Hard work is hard. Use the benefits and access that a small town like Sarasota provides to your advantage.  Your heart goes out to: The Junior League of Sarasota.  Your most recent social media post? A series of photos on Instagram from the Coterie fashion trade show in New York while identifying and buying new brands and lines for Island Pursuit’s Spring, Summer and Fall campaigns.  In Sarasota-Bradenton, we do too much_______ and too little ________: Complaining about what isn’t; embracing what is.  What’s next? Michael Valentino (president of Island Pursuit) has been and will continue to be a great mentor in all aspects of my life. My craving for adventure and passion for world travel will provide new inspiration which I will incorporate into my career and personal journey.
