Morgan Mulholland of Lakewood Ranch High School won first place in the 2017 Congressional Art Competition, with her watercolor, Maybelline. An annual district-wide showcase and contest for young artists, the Congressional Art Competition each year selects a winning entry to be displayed for one year in the corridor between the US Capitol and the Cannon House Office Building. 39 students participated in this year’s event, with the winners selected by Ringling Museum Associate Curator of Photography and Special Exhibitions Chris Jones, Chief Preparator and artist Keith Crowley and Chief Graphic Designer and artist Libby Bennett, with US Rep. Vern Buchanan announcing the winners in a ceremony on the Ringling Museum campus.
