As artists, photographer Alyssia Lazin and painter Pavel Kapic have exhibited around the world, leaving their home base in Sarasota or studio in Italy to hop from continent to continent for shows in Argentina, Italy, France, the Czech Republic and across the United States. Now, the husband-and-wife pair have teamed up for a group exhibition and broken new ground on a new continent with a joint show at the India House Art Gallery in Pune, India, where they have been invited to be featured alongside the acclaimed Indian multimedia artist Arti Kirloskar. Entitled Rock & Ragas, the exhibition unites the artists’ three different perspectives—the American Lazin, Czech Kapic and Indian Kirloskar—for an examination of the culture, symbols and mythology of India, and celebration of the colors and traditions that make it so rich. “The three artists’ work attempts to build an ideal bridge between two worlds, between two cultures, conscious of the importance of different identities,” says exhibition curator Maurizio Vanni, “but also conscious that people of all latitudes are nourished by knowledge and experience, by spirit and intellect, by song and music and prayer.”
