Standing at a piano in a field off Bee Ridge Road, Daniel Landers wails out the lyrics “Don’t say you love me/Just love me tonight.” The broken emotion and tortured trembles of his new single “Love Me Tonight” seem a far off cry from Jonas Bro-esque singles that gave Landers a dose of fame in Europe, and the Pine View School graduate hopes this maturation in his sound will lead to stateside success. “Everything I’ve done has always come naturally and honestly,” Landers says. “When I was doing more Power Pop-oriented stuff, it’s what I knew at the time. This is me now.” And Landers right now sounds like an artist on the verge of some kind of success. The song was just picked as the theme for the upcoming film Silent Echo, a project envisioned as a movie trilogy with accompanying young adult novels. SRQ
