BUSINESS BRIEFS

[NEWS]  MyGreenBuildings Selected as Green General Contractor for Florida House

Osborn Sharp associates, an architecture and design firm known for its long-term commitment to sustainable green design is back at the helm steering the design for the “New” Florida House. Terry Osborn and the Florida House Committee selected MyGreenBuildings as the contractor to help coordinate the green retrofit of the home in its new location. MyGreenBuildings will pull the necessary permits, and provide the Florida House with oversight while acting as point coordinator of the many subcontractors working on this important project.

The Florida House was moved by local house mover R. E. Johnson, and sits on a custom cradle “hovering” above its new home on Beneva Road, awaiting the construction of close to 100 specially designed piers that will be constructed under the home to hold up the house by its original slab-on-grade – which was excavated along with the home for the move, and will remain elevated on the new site. The new crawl space will allow for cistern water storage, flood protection and for easy access for future changes in the plumbing and other systems.
