Janel Dorn, an assistant principal at Pine View School, has now been appointed as the new principal of Sarasota Middle School, effective immediately. Roy Sprinkle, who was to be the school’s new principal, decided not to take the new position and will remain as the district’s director of human resources. Candace Dearing had been serving as Sarasota Middle’s acting principal since former SMS principal Karen Rose became the district’s executive director of middle schools in October.
