Children First recently honored philanthropists John and Elenor Maxheim with the naming of the John & Elenor Maxheim Library at the organization's Dr. Elaine Marieb Early Learning Center in Newtown. The Maxheims have been supporters of Children First in numerous ways over the past seven years. Elenor has served on the board of directors and was co-chair of the $3.8 million Raise Your Hand Campaign, a recent initiative to enhance and expand programs serving at-risk children and families. In combining their contributions of time and advocacy with financial support, the Maxheims have assisted many families in crisis. From helping a homeless family have a place to call their own, to providing a car for a mother in need of safe transportation, this couple's impact has been tremendous. After also making a significant gift to the Raise Your Hand Campaign, Children First leaders recognized the Maxheims with the naming of the library.
