Thanks to the support of the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, the Child Protection Center (CPC) was able to increase security for clients, volunteers and staff at the main campus in Sarasota. CPC was able to improve the security system by installing exterior and interior security cameras, and upgrading access controls of the building. Additionally, CPC was able to upgrade the iRecord system used to record forensic interviews of child victims. The previous system was out of date and no longer supported by the company. Accurate and enhanced video evidence not only helps to protect the child being interviewed from future harm, but are often used to send perpetrators to jail for their acts. The mission of CPC is the prevention, intervention and treatment of child abuse. CPC has been serving Sarasota and DeSoto Counties since 1980, and last year the organization provided services to over 63,000 individuals, including forensic interviews, prevention education workshops, supervised visits and trauma-informed therapy.
