Updated with Foxall numbers.

Democrat Margaret Good raised significantly more in the month of December than Republican James Buchanan in the lead-up to a special election for state representative in District 72, but Buchanan still has raised more money in total, and continues to outspend his opponent.

Campaign finance disclosures released on Wednesday evening show that for the period of Dec. 1 through Jan. 4, the Good campaign pulled in $106,831 in monetary donations to her campaign, nearly double the $55,500 raised by Buchanan over the same period of time. But Buchanan, who started raising money in March when he planned to run in a neighboring district, has still raised more than $55,000 beyond Good’s total take, a greater difference than the gap between the candidates in the most recent fundraising period.

Libertarian Alison Foxall $3,480 in the Dec. 1 through Jan. 4 period, and $14,577 total.

The special election in the Sarasota area district is scheduled for Feb. 13.
