The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida has announced that its board of directors has approved a change to its official mission statement. The new mission statement is now “Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida connects older adults and adults with disabilities to resources and assistance for living safely with independence and dignity.”  The statement was crafted by AAASWFL staff after several months of assessment and review. The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida is a nonprofit organization serving Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, Lee, and Sarasota Counties.  AAASWFL is the state’s designated Aging and Disability Resource Center for Southwest Florida. In 2017, AAASWFL assisted more than 33,000 older adults, caregivers and others in Southwest Florida through its programs and services, including the Elder Helpline, SHINE Medicare counseling, and health and wellness workshops.
