SRQ Traffic Up 35% From Last Year

Business

The numbers are in and traffic at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) is up by 35% for the month of September as compared to September 2017.  This is the 5th straight month of double-digit increases in passenger traffic including a 25% increase in August, 30% in July, 23% in June, 16% in May and 8% in April. The airport has experienced substantial growth with the addition of Allegiant Air, which started service in April, offering nonstop service to Cincinnati (CVG), Indianapolis (IND) and Pittsburgh (PIT), bringing ultra-low-cost fares to SRQ. The airport expects a busy winter season as well, with the addition of a 2nd ultra-low-cost carrier, Frontier Airlines, which announced in September that they will begin nonstop service to Atlanta (ATL), Cleveland (CLE) and Philadelphia (PHL) on December 10. American Airlines has added three destinations including Dallas (DFW), Chicago (ORD) and Philadelphia (PHL) beginning December 19 and Delta will provide seasonal flights to Boston (BOS), Detroit (DTW) and New York (JFK).
