Halfacre Construction Company recently completed a 13,365-square-foot welcome center addition and renovation for the First Baptist Church of Palmetto, which opened in 1892.
Construction on the $4 million project began in May 2018. The new welcome center connects the three buildings on the church’s current campus and serves as the new entrance to the church. The new structure’s design includes an exposed foyer, large storefront windows to allow for lots of natural lighting and a stair tower that extends above the roof line for a steeple-like feature with a back-lit cross.
Located at 1020 4th St. W. in Palmetto, Halfacre also remodeled the children’s building, gym, sanctuary and office building, totaling 8,559 square feet. The commercial construction company also refurbished and installed the original stained glass windows from the sanctuary built in 1920 and demolished in the late 1980s.
