[Architecture]  Firmo Construction Named Among Fastest-Growing Companies in Business Observer's 2019 Top 500

[Fitness]  Off The Handle Cycling Studio Spins The Wheel For Charity
Brittany Mattie, brittany.mattie@srqme.com

The newly-opened indoor cycling center off Clark Road, Off The Handle Cycling Studio, opened for business with more in mind than generic evening classes throughout the week. The fitness center offers interactive classes such as Sip and Spin on the weekends, followed by mimosas and a mixer to get to know fellow members. OTH also often collaborates with neighboring local businesses, with pop-up Spin and Flow classes, which include 30 minutes of spin followed by 30 minutes of yin yoga with HotYoga4UYou, as well as Hip Hop Happy Hour Rides, which include high-energy pedaling classes to classic hip hop tracks, followed by a free drink at the new Oak & Stone with the team.

OTH now invites the community to join in a philanthropic spin session for the company’s nonprofit partner, United Way Suncoast. The upcoming Charity Ride welcomes all fitness levels and riders for a 45-minute spin class, with all proceeds benefiting the nonprofit. Those in attendance will enjoy refreshments, giveaways and raffle prizes from various local businesses, including Crop Juice, Hey Honey Skin Care and many others. “The health of our community is central to our mission at OTH,” says Bianca Ventura, co-owner of Off the Handle. She then mentions OTH will be incorporating more benefit events like these as frequently as possible moving forward.

"Giving back to the local community is something that's always been super important to both myself and [business partner] Aimee Howe,” shares Ventura. “Aimee regularly volunteers her time teaching yoga to inmates at the St. Pete jail and I always get friends together to volunteer, whether it's at an animal shelter or a local Ronald McDonald House. Partnering with United Way just seemed like the perfect thing to do, given their stellar reputation nationwide and knowing that the work they do changes lives.” Ventura and Howe hope partnering with United Way Suncoast will be a proactive and fun pathway to invest back into the well-being of Sarasotan families and an overall healthy community.

The Charity Ride takes place at 11am on September 14, with the price of $25 admission per bike. The event is open to anyone interested in attending, with sign ups available via the website offthehandlesrq.com, or calling the studio at 941-923-5100 to reserve a spot. The studio can accommodate up to 25 people, and if interest exceeds capacity, an additional ride may be added.

[GoodBite]  A Laborless Labor Day BBQ
Brittany Mattie, brittany.mattie@srqme.com

Despite your misgivings that summer is coming to an end, at least see out August wearing a bib and a swimsuit at the Labor Day BBQ at Waterline Marina Resort & Beach Club. Waterline’s signature restaurant, Eliza Ann’s Coastal Kitchen, will host holiday weekend festivities on the pool deck and outdoor patio of Eliza Ann's. Whether a hotel guest or local, go and enjoy a buffet menu poolside, including St. Louis ribs, blackened local catch, barbeque chicken, Southern potato salad and baked beans, mango coleslaw, corn on the cob and fresh-baked cornbread. If somehow still hungry for more, the grill station will be flipping black angus beef hamburgers and hot dogs, grilled to order with all the accoutrements. For dessert, douse the summer heat with sliced watermelon and assorted fruit pies before diving into the cookies, brownies and cupcakes.

The buffet price also includes one complimentary beer (draft or bottle), house wine or well liquor drink. Motorworks Brewing will already be there with beer selections on tap, including Pulp Friction Grapefruit IPA and other local favorites. Attendees are encouraged to stay for a full day of pool access, live music and games for all ages, including ping pong, cornhole and life-size Jenga.

Saturday, August 31 from 12 pm to 3pm. $30 per adult and $18 per child under 12. Tickets can be purchased here, or by calling 941-238-6262. Waterline Marina Resort & Beach Club, 5325 Marina Dr., Holmes Beach.
