If you talk to the brewmasters and beercrafters behind Sarasota-Bradenton’s ever-burgeoning local brewery scene, they’ll say it’s not a competition—a rising tide lifts all glasses and all that—so we had to make it one. JDub’s Brewing Company comes out on top this year, beating out fierce competition from last year’s champion brewery, Darwin’s Brewing Company, which drops to second runner-up this year. Big Top Brewing Company takes first runner-up position while Motorworks Brewing rounds out the field as third runner-up.—PL

Jesse Murse (on JDub’s): With the explosion in popularity of craft beer and local microbrews, there are a ton of folks in the game, but not everyone is doing it right. For my wife and I, JDub’s checks all of the boxes: high quality craft beer, great ambiance both inside and out, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Additionally, being a local business owner myself, it’s a great plus knowing that we are supporting the local economy and Sarasota small businesses. Tonya Engelbrecht (on Big Top): I voted for Big Top because of their amazing beer and great atmosphere. Vaishalee Wilson (on Big Top): A great local brewery and tap room with a cool local vibe. Innovative brews, with a strong selection of core beers, but weekly one-offs from the brewmaster, Josh. Brings together the feel and history of old circus town atmosphere with excellent local craft beer.
