The Circle Maker: Praying Circles Around Your Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears, by Mark Batterson

In this book, American pastor and New York Times bestselling author Mark Batterson shares the insights of Honi the Circle Maker, a first century Jewish sage whose call for rain during a dry season from within the circle was answered. Batterson draws from his own experiences as a circle-maker to teach readers how to draw prayer circles around their dreams, family and God’s promises. Leymis Bolaños Wilmott, the artistic director of Sarasota Contemporary Dance, discusses how this book helped her see the recent, grand opening of her company’s studio in the Rosemary District to fruition.  “It was three years ago when the conversation started about a possible location for the company’s future studio/home. I was reading this book and it was a lot to process. I would put it down, take time for the stories to settle, then go to the SCD future location and walk circles around the property on Boulevard of the Arts,” Wilmott says. “I had written in my prayer journal for a “movement center” more than 10 years ago but the possibility of it also brought a lot of unknowns, and this book encouraged me to pray continuously, dream big and believe with a boldness that miracles can happen and they can happen to me.”

The Outsider, by Stephen King,  Release Date: May 22

Renowned Sarasota resident (part-time) Stephen King returns with a bone-chilling crime thriller that takes a twisted mirror to human nature. Tragedy strikes in bucolic Flint City with the gruesome discovery of the violated corpse of an eleven-year old boy in a park, and all fingers point to beloved English teacher, husband, father and little league coach, Terry Maitland. Detective Ralph Anderson swiftly arrests Maitland, whose alibi stands alone against a seemingly ironclad case that includes DNA evidence and witnesses. The investigation grows more complex than Anderson anticipated as horrifying revelations emerge. King’s latest will take people down a dark, winding path of distrust and suspense as it engrosses readers in ways that only the legendary author of The Shining, Carrie and It can.
