On the academic front, USFSM looks to be equally busy in 2017, building up its science and mathematics program.

After establishing a College of Science & Mathematics last summer and hiring Dean Dr. Paul Kirchman, the campus has wasted no time this academic year rolling out an engineering program called the “Bridge to Engineering.”

In partnership with the College of Engineering at USF in Tampa, this exciting collaboration allows students to complete their first two years of study at USF Sarasota-Manatee before transferring to the College of Engineering at USF in Tampa to finish their degrees.

Partnerships remain at the cornerstone of so many initiatives at USFSM.

The campus’ biology program is another example of a fruitful collaboration. Based on a partnership launched with Mote Marine Laboratory in August 2013, this program continues to excel as students are given the opportunity to work both with USFSM faculty and Mote Marine scientists. In many cases, they also intern at Mote.

This philosophy of collaboration is just another reason college-bound students should consider USF Sarasota-Manatee, their hometown campus, before looking elsewhere.
