Each year, SRQ MEIDA recognizes local leading women who have deeply contributed to our
community through their business, philanthropic, health and wellness, entrepreneurial, cultural,
science, technology and educational endeavors through the Women Who Roar Initiative. We invite our
readers to nominate an individual who best exemplifies the attributes of professional acumen,
philanthropic passion, personal integrity and community leadership.
SRQ MEDIA believes in cultivating our women leaders by recognizing those who have made meaningful contributions
to the Sarasota and Bradenton Area communities in the areas of business, non-profit development, philanthropy, education,
leadership, health, science and the cultural arts. For the Women Who Roar Leadership Awards Program, local female leaders are
nominated by their peers in the region. Once nominations have closed, all women nominated will be contacted and invited to
submit an application capturing their capacity for change, leadership style, professional and industry achievements and
community engagement. Judges from across the United States will jury the applications and identify ten to twelve winners
who are then inducted into the Women Who Roar Leadership Circle. We will recognize all nominees and announce the winners
at the 2026 Women Who Roar Leadership Awards Luncheon taking place on November 6, 2026 at Michael's On East.
SRQ MEDIA formed the Women Who Roar Initiative as a year-long program engaging the participants in the annual Women Who Roar Competition to create highly-dynamic personal networking that catalyzes community leadership through the science and art of mentorship. SRQ MEDIA hosts the annual Hear Me Roar Awards and Leadership Luncheon recognizing the past years’ Women Who Roar Leadership Circle Class and announcing the finalists and winners of the current year's competition comprising the new inductees to the Leadership Circle. The honorees are recognized by name in the "She Roars" edition of SRQ | The Magazine in October. The Women Who Roar Awards Special Section is published in the February following February edition of SRQ Magazine.
Can I nominate more than one individual?
Yes, we invite you to nominate as many individuals as you feel reflect the criteria of the competition. Please nominate each separately in the Women Who Roar Nominations survey.
How much detail should I include in the "Why We're Nominating" field?
As the nominator, you might hit on a few high notes as an overview for why you believe this individual is an incredible contributor and leader to the region; however, it does not need to include specific details, dates or recognition.
When nominating someone, should we list all of their contributions, or is there a follow-up form to fill out to include this information?
Once someone is nominated, we invite them to submit a formal application that they can fill out to officially be considered for the competition. The application includes questions to be answered related to their professional, community and personal successes as well as providing details on honors, board service and/or volunteer work they have contributed in the region.
Once someone is nominated, do they automatically get entered in the competition?
Individuals who are nominated must submit a completed application to officially be entered into the competition.
When are the Women Who Roar Awards honorees announced?
The award honorees will be announced and inducted into the Women Who Roar Leadership Circle at the annual Together We Roar Leadership and Awards Luncheon in October. All of the nominees are recognized by name at the luncheon as well as in the February 2026 Together We Roar Awards Special Section appearing in SRQ Magazine.
