Hospital Board Installs New Officers for 2023

Tuesday, the Sarasota County Public Hospital Board, which governs Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, named its new officers for 2023. The new chair of the Board is Tramm Hudson, who has represented the Board’s at-large Seat 1 since 2015. Hudson is a retired Sarasota banker, U.S. Army officer and community leader who has spent almost 30 years sharing his executive expertise in finance, economic development and strategic planning with a number of organizations in the Sarasota-Manatee region. He has served as chairman of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, trustee of Manatee Community College, chairman of the Out-of-Door Academy, chairman of Committee of 100, chairman of The Glenridge at Palmer Ranch retirement community, and member of the boards of United Way and Sarasota Family YMCA. He also was chairman of the Republican Party of Sarasota County. In 2005, he served as chairman of Workforce Florida. Hudson graduated from Vanderbilt University as a distinguished military graduate. He served as a Cavalry officer in Germany and continued in the Army Reserves, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He earned his MBA from Emory University. Hudson succeeds Sharon Wetzler DePeters, APRN, who served as chair of the Board for 2022. Her tenure as chair included the successful completion of the largest expansion in Sarasota Memorial’s history, with the opening of the new Sarasota Memorial Hospital - Venice as well as the Oncology Tower on the Sarasota campus. Her term also included the groundbreaking of the Cornell Family Behavioral Health Pavilion and the announcement of plans to develop a new hospital in North Port. Sarasota Memorial also received numerous national awards for its high quality of care, including U.S. News’ “Best Hospital” rankings for Rehabilitation and Urology Services, and a spot among the Nation’s 100 Top Hospitals, 40 Top Teaching Hospitals and 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Fortune/Merative. DePeters will continue serving on the Hospital Board as a member. Four new members recently elected by local voters also took their seats at Tuesday’s Board meeting: Brad Baker, who represents Northern District - Seat 1; Bridgette Fiorucci, BSN, RN, who represents Central District - Seat 2; Patricia Maraia, BSN, RN, who represents Southern District - Seat 1; and Victor Rohe, Northern District - Seat 2. In addition to Hudson, the Board officers for 2023 include: First Vice Chairman: Brad Baker, Second Vice Chairman: Victor Rohe, Treasurer: Gregory Carter, Secretary: Bridgette Fiorucci, BSN, RN, Assistant Secretary: Sarah Lodge, Assistant Treasurer: Patricia Maraia, BSN, RN, Members: Britt Riner, Sharon Wetzler DePeters.
