Calling all young science enthusiasts! Come out and explore the latest science through monthly themes of Engineering, Experimentation, and Creativity at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature’s IQuest program. IQuest is for middle school students (11-14 years old) who are looking for a fun, relaxed evening of testing, building, laughing, and exploring alongside friends. Participants will discover, test, and create new things each month using The Bishop’s unique spaces, exhibitions, and resources.
IQuest is a drop-off program for kids only. The program, with a cost of $15 per person for Discovery Society members and $20 per person for non-members, includes a pizza dinner provided by Wilder’s Pizza!
This year in IQuest, a pinball machine was engineered out of cardboard, there were experiments with food science, and planet-themed crafts were created. Participants learned that making ice cream from a bag is really cold, and got to experiment with different kinds of milk to see which made the best ice cream. They also were able to hang out in the planetarium to learn more about the planets before making their crafts.
Spring 2023 IQuest Programs and dates are as follows: January 14 Engineering; February 11 Experimentation; March 11 Creativity; April 8 Engineering; May 13 Experimentation. The program will take a break for the summer and will not be offered in June, July, or August.
Pre-registration and payment required at least 24 hours in advance. IQuest runs from 5-8pm on the second Saturday of most months. For additional information, please contact Special Programs Manager, Meghan O’Brien, at MOBrien@bishopscience.org or (941)746-4131 ext 145.
Bishop Museum, 201 10th Street West, Bradenton, (941) 746-4131.
