Mixon Fruit Farms Up For Sale

Todays News

One of Florida’s largest citrus farms is now on the market.

Mixon Fruit Farms, a Bradenton business and property, has been listed for sale for $15.8 million. Selina Bradley, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Realty, announced the listing, suggesting numerous uses for the 39-acre farm.

“Calling all developers! Welcome to your dream property, a 39-acre farm that's waiting for you to transform it into something truly special,” she wrote in a listing.

“Whether you're a developer looking for a prime piece of land, or an entrepreneur looking to build your own business empire, this property offers everything you need to make your vision a reality. For developers, this property offers plenty of untapped potential waiting for your vision to come to life. The possibilities are endless — from residential housing to commercial development, the choice is yours. And with the land already divided into parcels, it's easy to customize your project to fit your needs. The sprawling land is divided into four parcels, each with its own unique character and charm.”

That also signals a significant end of an era for the east Manatee County agricultural property. The farm will officially close on July 29. Until then, a number of prescheduled events will still take place as expected, including a March 24 murder mystery, a March 25 Easter event and craft fair, and a May 13 banquet celebrating the farm’s 84-year history serving Bradenton.

The property in addition to being a working fruit farm has become a destination of its own, with a public-facing store, café, regular tours, and an event space that has hosted weddings and other gatherings. The farm also has donated a portion of its property for a Wildlife Education Center used for rehabilitating injured birds, animals and reptiles.

But the future of the land is unlikely going to continue to be 100% agricultural. The land will be sold with existing facilities in place including a pavilion, gazebo, warehouse and three-bedroom home. The property also has three on-site wells, two of which run 600 feet deep.
