The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (EDC) is set to host its 2024 Annual Meeting honoring the achievements in diversifying and growing Sarasota County’s economy while celebrating its innovative future. Attendees will witness a special presentation, including the announcement of this year’s Clyde Nixon Honoree – a  Sarasota County business leader who embodies the personal and business values demonstrated by Nixon, who was chairman of Sun Hydraulics. The honor was established in 2007 when Nixon was recognized posthumously.  Ringling College of Art and Design’s President, Dr. Larry Thompson, will host a panel discussion. The featured panelists of industry experts will include Vladimir (Vlad) Ljesevic, Co-Founder & Managing Partner, CMPSE; Rick Severance, Division President, Wellen Park; Dr. Alex Beavers, Chief Innovation Officer, Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium. Each of the panelists offers a unique perspective as to what the future looks like not only locally, but also more regionally, in the industries of tech, real estate, and the Blue Economy - an economic system or sector that seeks to conserve marine and freshwater environments while using them in a sustainable way to develop economic growth and produce resources such as energy and food.  The event will take place at The Ora – 578 McIntosh Rd, Sarasota, FL 34232 – on Thursday, September 12th. Networking begins at 11:00 a.m., and then the event will start promptly at 12:00 p.m. To purchase a table or sponsorship for the 2024 Annual Meeting, please contact Anna Eger at aeger@edcsarasotacounty.com or (941) 893-0277.
