Foundry Collective SRQ, opened by owner Holly Kuri in November, is introducing new athleisure brands and a small-business vibe to Downtown Sarasota, featuring a carefully curated collection and inclusive sizing options. It also features a wellness lounge, designed to provide recovery and a reset after a workout or a long day, as well as pop-up and on-location Pilates classes.

“I like to think of it as a haven, a safe space for people focused on community, elevated essentials and meaningful experiences,” says Kuri. “Even if you come in for five minutes to grab something quickly, or you're coming in for a 50-minute class, I just want it to be the best part of your day, no matter what.”

In the store space, Kuri has focused on bringing in women-owned brands, such as Ava Active, as well as popular Los Angeles and New York City brands like Spiritual Gangster. “I wanted to offer some brands that the rest of Sarasota hasn't heard of. Everything is curated with intention,” she says. “I brought different brands that are great quality, or maybe they're made in America, things that you can't find elsewhere, and I wanted to bring that elevated feeling to the space.”

Kuri previously spent her career in operations and planning client events for a clinical psychology office in Southern California before moving to Sarasota two years ago, but has also spent her free time working as a Pilates instructor. When she relocated to Sarasota, Kuri immediately felt at home with the active lifestyle and knew that she wanted to contribute to that community. “I've always been drawn toward creating meaningful client experiences, so I wanted to merge the structure of being Director of Operations and special projects, with the creativity of being a Pilates instructor,” says Kuri.

The store merges athleisure with this focus on Pilates, featuring a full wall of grip sock options and, since opening, free mat Pilates classes hosted on-location throughout November and December. This aspect, Kuri says, has helped bring the community together and kicked off the store’s opening months with a warm and welcoming feel. As she continues to find her place in the Sarasota business community, Kuri says she hopes to focus on increased wellness and Pilates programming as well as pop-up classes throughout the area.

“More than anything, I just really want it to be a place where people come together and feel good,” says Kuri. “When people walk by when we're doing our evening classes, they’re genuinely interested. And I always want people to feel safe and included when they come for a class or for shopping. That's what I'm trying to create.”
