Dr. Michelle-Marie Heinemann is advancing a vision for public art that places creative expression at the center of education and community life. Through the recent donation of one of her monumental Flower Tree Sculptures to New College of Florida, the New York socialite and philanthropist is reinforcing her belief that art is a foundational element of learning rather than an optional enhancement. The seasonal Sarasota resident is the founder of the Flower Tree Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to placing significant works of art in universities, public parks and civic spaces. The Foundation’s mission is rooted in the belief that public art activates shared environments and transforms parks, libraries, schools and town centers into places of connection, dialogue and cultural exchange.
