"Whatever your goals are, we're here to help you meet them."
When Jeremy and Veda Milin were looking to enroll their three children in strength and conditioning classes to supplement their sports practices, the couple found it challenging to find a program that was both comprehensive and affordable. Instead, the Milins decided to open D1 Training themselves, offering a range of youth and adult classes for anyone interested in improving their fitness.
“We are geared toward the athlete, but we have witnessed some incredible stories already with kids and adults who aren’t athletes but are just hoping to improve their fitness,” says Jeremy. “Any child, any person can come through these doors, and we can get them where they want to be.”
D1 Training’s workouts are speed, agility, strength and conditioning-based, and rotate each day to focus on a different element of fitness. Guided by Head Coach Andrew Buchkoski, who has more than 25 years of experience training high school, collegiate and professional athletes, D1’s focus is creating a welcoming environment in their state-of-the-art space.
Partnering with Benderson Development and Halfacre Construction, the Milins found a central location and constructed a gym space specifically designed for D1’s programming. The studio has been open for just a month, but classes have already filled. “It's been fantastic,” says Jeremy. “We’re planning to expand our programming soon.” D1 Sarasota offers youth classes throughout the afternoon and three adult classes each day, with plans to expand early-morning options for adults.
For Jeremy, the most rewarding experience so far has been seeing clients’ confidence grow throughout each session. “We're here to cater to anybody that might need us, anybody with a goal,” he says. “Whatever your goals are, we're here to help you meet them.”

Explored in a variety of media, including basket weaving, beadwork, collage, clay, textiles, photography, metalwork, and printmaking rooted in ancestral technologies, their work shares similar stylistic and social concerns, such as vibrant color, hard-edged geometries, curvilinear patterns, and bold mark-making, all infused with personal stories and those of their kin.

Juana Romani (1867–1924) was one of the most fascinating and successful painters in late-nineteenth-century Paris. Born in Italy, Juana—whose given name was Giovanna Carlesimo—moved to Paris with her mother and stepfather at the age of ten. She took up painting, studying under the well-known painters Jean-Jacques Henner (1829–1905) and Ferdinand Roybet (1840–1920). Romani quickly earned both critical praise and significant fame for her deftly painted, richly colorful depictions of strong, sensual women adorned in lavish textiles.
