Alpine Steakhouse turned a new page in its journey with the opening of its wine cellar a few years ago. The temperature-controlled 2,200-bottle space has been a long time coming for co-owner Matt Rebhan. “It’s been a vision of mine for about 15 years,” Rebhan explains, “Being able to properly store and pour wines at the proper temperature, we’ve really stepped into a whole other tier, a whole other level of wines.”
Rebhan described that the building process was simple after the Alpine team decided on a location for the space. “After the last renovation that we did, I knew where I was going to build the wine cellar,” Rebhan highlighted, “We kind of planned for it and the following year, we went ahead and built it.”
Since opening the wine cellar, Alpine has been hosting pop-up tastings and exclusive events within the space. Rebhan highlighted that Alpine can also accommodate private dinners for up to six people in the room, allowing diners to experience the wine cellar for an entire evening. “People have the whole room to themselves right in the middle of the wine cellar,” he says.
The addition has also added to the overall dining experience at Alpine. Now, guests are encouraged to pair wines from the cellar with the restaurant’s USDA Prime steaks. “We have wines now that are more challenging to get and are on a more exquisite level,” Rebhan adds, “People see that and they say, ‘Wow, maybe I should have some wine with my steak.’”
For a restaurant with such an emphasis on quality and hospitality, the new wine cellar is the cherry on top. “Quality—that's what we really pride ourselves on. I'm a big stickler on providing a nice experience and I really instill that in my team as well,” Rebhan says.
Alpine Steakhouse’s new wine cellar represents what the restaurant is all about: creating an elevated experience for guests while staying rooted in hospitality.
