Cycling is an art. Beyond technology and teachable technique lies what avid cyclists call souplesse—that heightened state of cycling where mastery becomes artistry and the rider reaches a harmony of flow and form for maximum performance and style. In that spirit, SRQ magazine reached out to the Sarasota artist collective sARTq for this five-panel installation created in honor of the bicycle and its unending sway. Over the course of two weeks, sARTq member artists Jeffery Cornwell, Javo, Laine Nixon, Steven Strenk and Jill Taffet each created their own homage, bringing the finished product to the SRQ offices for final assemblage and installation. From mechanical beauty to social benefit or linear abstraction, each finds their own way to connect.. For upcoming events and gatherings, visit sartq.org.
