United for Good United Way Suncoast Stronger with Manatee

Following a merger this summer, United Way Suncoast (United Way) has been hard at work. The merger enabled savings through combining staff talent, expertise and capabilities while leveraging the power of scale to deliver greater hyper-local impact that provides life-changing results.

Uniting was a logical step. The organizations were already aligned through a shared goal to fight for the education and financial stability of everyone. United Way will continue to focus on early literacy, youth success, financial stability and volunteer activation, although the initiatives in each area vary based on need. For example, in Sarasota and DeSoto, much of the focus is on financial stability and workforce initiatives, while in Manatee County, early literacy initiatives take the lead, with financial stability expansion on the horizon.

Leading the team in our area is a trio of dynamic women. CEO Suzanne McCormick oversees strategy, investments and execution across the regional footprint. Mireya Eavey, Sarasota Area President, directs financial stability initiatives across the region, as well as operations in Sarasota and Desoto counties.  Bronwyn Beightol, Manatee Area President, spearheads the extensive educational impact initiatives in Manatee County, as well as operational oversight locally.  (Emery Ivery, not pictured, serves as Tampa Bay President in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.)

Suzanne McCormick, CEO United Way Suncoast shared, “the organization reflects how we live. Many of us live in one community, work in another -- and care about both.”  She calls it “two loves, one heart.”  “There is a lot of great work behind us,” said McCormick, “and I’m confident our best work is yet to come - UNITED.”
