The Argus Foundation last week announced that Sarasota County Commissioner Christine Robinson will take over as executive director of the pro-business foundation following the retirement of long-time leader Kerry Kirschner. Robinson also plans to serve out her county term, which runs until November 2016.
How do you plan on balancing both your time on the county commission any potential conflict of interest issues that may arise? In terms of ethics, I have researched that with the Florida Commission on Ethics and there is no conflict because the Argus Foundation does not contract with the county in any way, so there is no inherent conflict or conflict with voting. As for time, I have been an attorney while I have been on the commission. This will replace much of that from now on.
What are your long-term goals as far as the direction of the foundation? That is a decision the board will have to make. I will make some recommendations. Kerry has done a fantastic job and has really got a solid base. At the same time he have to diversify the membership and find the right balance. There needs to be diversification in terms of geography, who is involved and just getting different dynamics and ages involved. With where I live, my gender, my age, I believe all of that was attractive to why they chose me as a candidate.
