Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight announced Lynn Thomson was named 2014 Investigator of the Year by the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators. Thomson, a retired detective, has worked in a civilian capacity in the Pharmaceutical Diversion Investigative Unit since its launch in 2009. She was unanimously chosen to receive this award by the NADDI board for leading Operation Main Pain, a lengthy Sarasota County Sheriff's Office investigation into a widespread prescription fraud ring that diverted about $300,000 worth of prescription pain killers from legitimate use and into the streets.
