SCOPE’s graph demonstrates the percentage of obesity in adults aged 18 and over at the county and state level. Obesity was measured by the percent of adults that had a reported Body Mass Index greater than or equal to 30. From 2002 to 2010, there was an increasing trend of reported obesity in Florida, increasing from 19 percent to 27 percent of adults. Compared to the state’s levels during this time, Sarasota County consistently maintained lower obesity rates
