Mote Moves Ahead With Keys Facility

Business

The Monroe Board of County Commissioners voted to grant Sarasota-based Mote Marine Laboratory a non-residential rate of growth ordinance exemption for Mote’s Florida Keys research facility on Summerland Key. Mote leaders announced plans for expansion of its research facilities on Summerland Key in February during a special celebration of the organization’s 60th anniversary. The exemption is one of the last steps before submitting the final permit to build the new cutting edge research facility with intentions to break ground January 2016.
