Port Manatee moves some 8 million tons of cargo each year. Right now, Costa Rica stands as both the most likely port of origin for products coming to the Palmetto port and the most likely destination of vessels as they leave, but what gets loaded onto boats here varies significantly from what gets taken off. Primary imports include tropical fruits, refined petroleum and certain porducts like aluminum, while exports include finished phosphate products, equipment including road-building devices and power generators, and large LNG heat exchangers.
