Hunting & Gathering
SRQ DAILY FRIDAY WEEKEND EDITION

BY NICOLE CARBON
At the start of season, you know your spare bedroom—make that couch for some—will be occupied with visitors. It’s hard not to take out-of-town guests to touristy places because, let’s face it: they are in Florida, near the beach and want a cocktail in hand, preferably at a tiki bar. The Lido Key Tiki Bar seems like a tourist trap but is truly a hotspot with the local set. It’s not easy to miss the authentic-looking tiki bar on the southern end of Lido Key—you can happily stumble upon it while strolling down the public beach access nearby. It’s part of the Ritz-Carlton Beach Club, so expect the best in quality and service yet with a laid-back vibe, outfitted with a few picnic tables for dining and a fire pit with chairs. Menu items include typical beach-bar fare and handcrafted tropical drink concoctions as well as beer and wine, all served with a relaxed authentic feel while still top-notch quality. They close nightly at sunset—there’s no better way to end the day with visiting family and friends.
Lido Key Tiki Bar at the Ritz-Carlton Beach Club, 1234 Ben Franklin Dr., Sarasota, 941-309-2000.
