A cross between baklava and wafer cake with a dash of mille-feuille, the traditional Hungarian-Armenian Marlenka cake is all at once gooey and flakey, creamy and crunchy. The classic honey cake houses layer upon layer of golden honey and finely chopped walnuts, a drip of cocoa-infused condensed milk bleeds down from the sides. The buttery smooth pudding-like filling contains the rich, natural flavor of honey, creating a healthy(ish) Eastern European treat. Relish the light cake in the traditional form or the version topped with chocolate cocoa in one of Elixir Tea House's several intimate, pillowed seating areas, perfect for a lazy afternoon with matcha and Marlenka.
