Dr. Susan MacManus has been conducting an annual survey as part of community outreach to get input from citizens about Sarasota County. In 2015, a new question related to the economy was added and is repeated again in the 2016 survey. Citizens were asked what they thought was the single biggest thing that can contribute to the growth of Sarasota County’s economy. Over half (51 percent) of the respondents cited business-related things and 26 percent cited ecotourism.
