Local teacher Jason Memmer has been awarded the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Award of Prestigious Excellence in Education. The award is given out every other year to 25 teachers across the US in recognition of their innovative teaching techniques and contributions to student learning. Memmer, who is a social studies teacher at Lee Magnet Middle School, has also been recognized for his devotion to making learning fun.
