Manatee County Administrator Ed Hunzeker has announced the creation of a new county department to oversee community redevelopment led by newly appointed department director, Geraldine Campos Lopez. The new department will oversee redevelopment efforts particularly in the county’s southwest district. Lopez received her bachelor of arts in architecture from Yale University, going on to earn a master certificate in city planning and urban design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Lopez is a certified economic developer through the International Economic Development Council.
