The way citizens get information is rapidly changing. Research shows that social media is an effective means for government to improve citizen trust in government by enhancing their perceptions of government transparency. The quality of communication and interaction between citizens and their public officials is vital to good government. The 2016 survey asked respondents what their primary method to access the Internet is. The results show that 61 percent utilize a personal computer and 60 percent use a mobile device. The percent saying they only access the web via a personal computer dropped form 37 percent in 2015 to 29 percent in 2016, reflecting the growing reliance on mobile devices.
