Two biotechnology students at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) recently accepted positions at Benchmark EnviroAnalytical in Palmetto. Faith Walker, who is set to graduate this fall, joined the Palmetto company after she completed her spring semester. Chris Eicher joined the company in June and will serve his internship there to complete his biotechnology degree. Walker completed an internship with Wellspring Pharmaceutical in the Spring. Eicher and Walker joined several SCF alumni at Benchmark, including Nicole Soler, this year’s outstanding biotech graduate. Soler, who began working at Benchmark in the Fall, was recently promoted. Benchmark has been providing environmental sampling and analytical services since 1992. The laboratory is owner-operated with 30 employees and two Florida locations, in Palmetto and North Port. Members of the company’s technical managerial staff are degreed scientists. Environmental analytical and field sampling experience includes surface water, storm water, groundwater and sediment/soil projects.
