Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC) is providing a free economic empowerment program to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The Economic Empowerment Program teaches financial literacy, employment skills, education and credit repair. Equipping survivors with the skills to be financially independent gives the confidence needed to secure economic stability and help break the cycle of abuse. SPARCC is the only state-certified center providing free and confidential services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. Additional services and programs available include a 24-hour Helpline, an emergency shelter, counseling, hospital and courthouse accompaniment, legal services, support groups and empowerment programs. This project was supported by VOCA-2016-Florida Coalition Against-00243 awarded by the office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs. Sponsored by SPARCC, the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence- Economic Justice Project (FCADV) and the State of Florida.
