Ringling College Hires Joe Fig as Dual Department Head

Ringling College of Art and Design has hired professional artist and instructor Joe Fig as the new department head for both the Fine Arts and the Visual Studies programs. Fig earned his BFA and MFA in fine arts from the School of Visual Arts, New York. His work can be found in numerous museums and leading private collections including the Parrish Museum, Norton Museum, New Museum and the Fogg Museum. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Boston Globe, Artforum, Art in America, ArtNews and Modern Painters. Fig brings to Ringling College extensive teaching experience, having spent time at School of Visual Arts; Lesley University, Art Institute of Boston; and University of Hartford, Hartford Art School. He has been a guest lecturer and visiting artist at over twenty-five institutions across the country, and he authored two books, Inside the Artist’s Studio and Inside the Painter’s Studio.
