Manatee County residents are invited to a Feb. 1 open house for an upcoming roadway improvement project on 45th Street from S.R. 70 (53rd Avenue East) to 44th Avenue East in Bradenton. The open house will be 5–7pm on Thursday, Feb. 1 in the Wagner Auditorium of Manatee Technical College, 6305 State Road 70. Project information will be on display and project representatives will be on hand to answer questions concerning access to businesses, lane closures, and other project-related information. There will be no formal presentation. The project involves widening 45th Street East between S.R. 70 and 44th Avenue East. The existing 1.1 miles of roadway will be widened from a two-lane to a four-lane urban section with grassy, raised medians. Also included as part of the project: the bridge deck at Gap Creek will be widened to accommodate additional travel lanes; two pedestrian bridges will be constructed to provide pedestrian sidewalks; access to the existing fire station will be improved with an emergency traffic signal; traffic signals will be added at the intersection of 44th Avenue East and 45th Street East. Construction is expected to begin in February and anticipated to continue through summer 2019.
