Ruta Maria Jouniari, a small business owner, small farmer and community health advocate, has filed to run for Sarasota County Commission in District 2. Jouniari promotes a business background, including beginning her career with Aetna U.S. Healthcare, developing markets in Boston and Tampa and fighting to lower premium costs. After almost twenty years in the insurance field, Jouniari founded her own business, International Staffing Group, Inc., in 2004, to work with the federal government to place veterans in jobs. Jouniari has lived in Sarasota for almost twenty years and also co-founded the Universal Crescent Clinic, a 501 c3 non-profit, that provides free medical care to people without insurance in Sarasota County, where she currently serves on the board of directors and volunteers at the clinic.
