In January, the Hermitage Artist Retreat, along with the Philadelphia-based Greenfield Foundation announced playwright Martyna Majok as the winner of the 2018 Greenfield Prize for Drama. She joined a select three playwrights to have won the honor, including Craig Lucas, John Guare and Nilo Cruz. She is the first female playwright to win the award, receiving a $30,000 commission for a new work to be presented to an audience in two years, arranged by the Hermitage.
