In January, the Hermitage Artist Retreat, along with the Philadelphia-based Greenfield Foundation announced playwright Martyna Majok as the winner of the 2018 Greenfield Prize for Drama. She joined a select three playwrights to have won the honor, including Craig Lucas, John Guare and Nilo Cruz. She is the first female playwright to win the award, receiving a $30,000 commission for a new work to be presented to an audience in two years, arranged by the Hermitage. Announced yesterday, Majok is now also the winner of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, receiving the prize for her play, Cost of Living.
