MDC Goes Live for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Business

In observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in honor of its 30th Anniversary, Manatee Diagnostic Center (MDC), part of the Manatee Healthcare System, committed to educate and give away 30 screening mammograms during a recent live remote with 92.1 CTQ’s Maverick and Lulu in the Morning Show. Within 1 hour and 45 minutes, they surpassed their goal. During the live remote, Kobee Masiello, MDC practice administrator, and Bret Hendricks, MD, radiologist and MDC medical director, spoke about the importance of having yearly screening tests after the age of 40. Listeners heard how family history can determine testing, what dense breasts are, a concern of having a mammogram and the benefits of the 3-D technology that MDC offers.

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second leading cancer among women and one out of eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Regular screenings, early detection and improvements in treatment are helping millions survive this disease.
