Bourbon, Mattison's style

Plated

An exciting new collaboration has developed between acclaimed distillery Knob Creek and local chef and restaurateur, Paul Mattison just in time for Mint Julep season. In 2018, Knob Creek approached Chef Paul with an opportunity to create a barrel of bourbon that would be crafted specifically for Mattison’s group of restaurants in the Sarasota-Bradenton region. Chef Paul enthusiastically agreed and worked with his team to curate a smooth-tasting bourbon with character, spice, flavor and warmth. Chef Paul sought a delicious flavor profile that had a good personality to match. After being distilled in Kentucky, an entire single barrel arrived at Mattison’s. Eager to try this special, crafted bourbon? Mattison’s exclusive bourbon can be found in all three of Chef Paul’s restaurants as well as The Van Wezel Performing Arts Center for pre-show dining. Save the date and get ready to break out your best derby garb - Mattison’s will feature their bourbon in chef created menu features and crafted cocktail specials, as well as a Kentucky Derby Hat Contest on Saturday, May 4. Winners will be announced right before the derby and will receive a $50 Mattison’s Gift Card. Winners will be judged by Mattison’s management and staff. The pageantry of horses and hats is always fun but let’s face it- the star of the show is sure to be Mattison’s very own barrel of liquid gold.
