Players Centre Holding Auditions for 2019 New Play Festival

Arts & Culture

Auditions for the The Players Centre for Performing Arts’ 2019 Players New Play Festival will be held June 24 from 6pm to 8pm at The Arnold Simonsen Players Studio on Boulevard of the Arts. Those interested in auditioning are asked to prepare a one-minute monologue.

The Players New Play Festival invites local playwrights to submit new, never-before-performed plays. Five plays are chosen then performed in readers-style theater by actors under the leadership of a local director. One play is chosen as the winner and later performed with full sets and costumes. This year‘s festival runs August 5-9.

The following shows are 2019 finalists: “Mother of Eve” by George Steitz and directed by Summer Dawn Wallace; “The Mentor” by Sylvia Reed and directed by Preston Boyd; “Bloodlines” by Connie Schindewolf and directed by Dan Higgs; “Damaged Goods” by Ron Pantello and directed by Carole Kleinberg; and “Beyond the Summer of Love” by Jim Moss and directed by Pam Wiley.

To secure an audition slot, call the Box Office at 941-365-2494 or sign up at the website below.
