Sarasota-Manatee Traffic Management Center Website Receives Award

Government

One year after launching a real time traffic information website, the Sarasota-Manatee Traffic Management Center (TMC) has received top state honors from the Intelligent Transportation Society of Florida, winning the Outstanding Achievement Award. The website gives local drivers a live picture of local traffic conditions at more than 470 intersections across two counties from 350 cameras across Sarasota and Manatee counties. On Twitter, TMC's @941_Traffic posts live updates on some of the most significant traffic updates around the region. Both can be accessed from mobile phones and tablets but should not be used while driving.

The Sarasota-Manatee Regional Traffic Management Center (RTMC) is the hub for operation, maintenance and monitoring of advanced traffic management systems in the two-county area. Staff in the center monitor traffic conditions and can make temporary traffic signal timing changes to ensure traffic flows more smoothly around impacted areas.

The website can be viewed at the link below.
