Playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts and other amenities at City of Sarasota parks will be closed to the public effective 9 a.m. Wednesday, as part of the latest emergency orders issued for the COVID-19 public health emergency. Outdoor park areas will remain open for walking, jogging, exercise and enjoyment. Citizens are strongly urged to follow the directives and guidelines of federal and state health officials, including gatherings of fewer than 10 people and social distancing of at least 6 feet apart. Although City buildings are closed to the public, most City operations and functions are still available.
